Just thought that I would add to my previous post some statements to further clarify why stories on Malaysia’s history were written about.
Sharifah made statements to Bavani that had huge undertones implying Bavani wasn’t thankful for what the government gave her. It is a statement many Malays have used in the past to non-Malays. It is both rude, insensitive and protest-worthy.
Also, Bawani has a right to be dissatisfied. She has a right to voice out her dissatisfaction. There is clear basis for that in the current situation that is Malaysia.
Sharifah also told Bawani to leave if she wasn’t happy. Well that’s what most of us are doing isn’t it? So is this the trick? Make them so miserable they’ll leave? Fuck, it’s working!
Sharifah then makes an insult to Bawani’s level of education. Excuse you, but dude, you’re both in the same university. Or at least a public one. Was she criticising the government’s lack of being able to provide Bawani a decent education? Hang on a sec, I thought you were happy with our public tertiary education!
There were highly based racial sentiments reflecting the situation that was Malaysia once upon a time. Bringing up sentiments like that now are highly despicable and the world is watching you. You cannot possibly argue with such authority and expect to survive on an international level. It’s like how the Obedient Wives Club got such ridicule. Oddly enough, she campaigned against this! Yet similarities are glaring!
Anywho, yes. I’m done reflecting. Random angry thoughts that have hit me mid-studying about labour.
Labour’s gross. Babies coming out through dilated cervixes and vaginas, blah! Not my thing, adoption all the way for me, baby!
